Greenest cars by type

So you want to try and by the greenest car of the type that meets your needs? It isn't practical for everyone to by an electric or hybrid car (at the moment!) or it might be that with 3 children, 2 dogs and a maiden aunt a Ford Fiesta just is not going to work for you. This doesn't mean that you can't look for the car with the lowest CO2 emissions and best fuel economy that works for you, for example: a Toyota RAV4 is always going to have a smaller environmental impact that a V8 SuperCharged Range Rover!

What we have done to aid your decision making is to split up the cars on sale into their distinct categories below and to identify which of these is the 'greenest' (most fuel efficient/lowest CO2 emissions/less car tax etc...)
